1. Usage and dosage

1.1 Infantile spasms

The initial dose is 50mg/kg per day, divided into two oral doses. According to clinical response and tolerability, it can gradually increase to 150mg/kg per day, with a maximum dose not exceeding 150mg/kg per day.

1.2 Difficult to treat complex partial epileptic seizures

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and above: The initial dose is 500mg per day, taken orally in two doses. According to clinical response and tolerability, it can be gradually increased to 1500-3000mg per day, divided into two oral doses.

2. Medication for special populations

2.1 Pregnancy period

Xibaoning may cause harm to the fetus, and pregnant women should only use it when the potential benefits outweigh the risks. During the treatment period, close monitoring of fetal development is necessary.

2.2 Breastfeeding period

Xibaoning can be secreted into breast milk and may cause adverse reactions in nursing infants. It is recommended that lactating women weigh the pros and cons before deciding whether to discontinue medication or breastfeeding.

2.3 Children

Children with infantile spasms need to adjust their dosage according to their weight. The safety and efficacy of epilepsy in children under 12 years old have not been fully established and should be used with caution.

2.4 Elderly people

Elderly patients may be more sensitive to medication and should start with low doses and closely monitor for adverse reactions.

2.5 Liver dysfunction

Xibaoning is mainly excreted through the kidneys, and patients with mild liver dysfunction do not need to adjust the dosage. Patients with moderate to severe liver dysfunction should use it with caution.

2.6 Renal insufficiency

Patients with renal insufficiency need to adjust their dosage according to creatinine clearance rate. Patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance rate<50mL/min) need to reduce their dosage.
