Indications and medication precautions for Regorafenib, Indian natco version
Regorafenib is a multi kinase inhibitor mainly used for the treatment of specific advanced cancers. When using it, attention should be paid to cardiovascular and liver function, as well as medication safety for special populations.
1 Indications
(1) Colorectal cancer
Suitable for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who have previously received treatment with fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan.
(2) Gastrointestinal stromal tumor
Used for locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors previously treated with imatinib and sunitinib.
(3) Hepatocellular carcinoma
Approved for hepatocellular carcinoma patients who have failed sorafenib treatment and require Child Pugh A liver function.
2 Medication precautions
(1) Cardiovascular monitoring
During the treatment period, blood pressure needs to be monitored weekly. If grade 3 hypertension occurs, medication should be suspended, and grade 4 should be permanently discontinued.
(2) Liver function management
ALT/AST testing should be conducted before treatment and every 2 weeks. If liver enzymes>5 × ULN or bilirubin>3 × ULN occur, the medication should be stopped immediately.
(3) Wound healing
Discontinue medication at least 2 weeks before major surgery and resume use only after complete wound healing after surgery.
(4) Reproductive toxicity
Patients of childbearing age should take efficient contraceptive measures and avoid pregnancy during treatment and within 2 months after discontinuation of medication.
(5) Drug interactions
Avoid using strong CYP3A4 inducers or inhibitors in combination, as it may significantly affect drug concentration.
3 Special precautions for storage
(1) Original packaging preservation
The original packaging box and sealed bottle of the medicine must be retained, and the bottle cap should be tightened immediately after taking to reduce contact with air and moisture.
(2) Child safety
The storage location should be kept out of reach of children. It is recommended to lock or place it at a high place to prevent accidental ingestion.
(3) Exception handling
If the pills change color, shatter, or the packaging is damaged, they should be immediately stopped from use and a pharmacist or medical institution should be contacted.
