Anamorelin usually takes a few years to use
The recommended usage period of Anamorelin is usually no more than 12 weeks (3 months), mainly used for short-term weight management in cancer cachexia patients. Clinical research data indicates that the safety and effectiveness of long-term use have not been established, and periodic evaluations should be strictly followed according to medical advice.
1. Standard treatment course restrictions
(1) Basic course of treatment: The maximum duration of continuous medication under approved indications is 12 weeks, and weight changes and adverse reactions need to be evaluated every 4 weeks.
(2) Extended use: If clinical benefits are significant and well tolerated, intermittent repeated treatment (with an interval of ≥ 4 weeks) may be considered after evaluation by a multidisciplinary team.
Adjustment for Special Groups 2
(1) Elderly patients: For those aged 65 years or older, it is recommended to shorten the initial course of treatment to 8 weeks as the drug clearance rate may decrease.
(2) Liver damage patients: Child Pugh B/C grade should be limited to 4-8 weeks and liver function monitoring should be strengthened.
3 Indications for discontinuation of medication
(1) Stagnation of weight gain: When the weight gain is less than 5% for four consecutive weeks, discontinuation of medication or change of plan should be considered.
(2) Adverse reactions: Immediate termination is required if QT interval prolongation (>500ms), abnormal blood glucose, or grade 3 or above side effects occur.
