Orgovyx administration guide: Take once daily with meals or on an empty stomach, and handle missed or discontinued medication
Orgovyx(relugolix) is an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor antagonist used for advanced prostate cancer. Standardized administration is key to ensuring efficacy.
I. Once Daily, With or Without Food
1.Take at a Fixed Time
Take once daily, 120mg each time, swallow the tablet whole; do not split, crush, or chew. It is recommended to take it at a fixed time each day for easier recall.
2.Not Affected by Food
It can be taken with food or on an empty stomach; no need to deliberately adjust meal timing.
3.Loading Dose at Treatment Initiation
A loading dose of 360mg(3 tablets) is required on the first day, followed by 120mg daily thereafter.
4.Adherence Reminder
Do not increase or decrease the dose or stop the medication on your own; do not double the dose after a missed dose.
II. Missed Dose Management
1.Take as Soon as Remembered on the Same Day
If a dose is missed and remembered on the same day, take 120mg as soon as possible and resume the original dosing time the next day.
2.Do Not Make Up After the Day Has Passed
If remembered only the next day, skip the missed dose and take the day's dose as originally scheduled; do not take two tablets at once.
3.Inform the Doctor of Consecutive Missed Doses
Multiple missed doses may affect testosterone suppression; inform the doctor promptly for evaluation.
III. Precautions for Discontinuation
1.Do Not Stop the Medication on Your Own
Abrupt discontinuation may cause testosterone levels to rebound and affect disease control; discontinuation must be decided by the doctor.
2.Monitoring After Discontinuation
After discontinuation, the doctor may arrange follow-up tests for testosterone and prostate-specific antigen(PSA) to assess the condition.
3.Temporary Suspension in Special Situations
When suspension is needed for surgery, severe infection, etc., follow the doctor's instructions; the resumption time should be determined by the doctor.
4.Management of Adverse Reactions
If hot flashes, fatigue, diarrhea, or abnormal liver function occur, report to the doctor promptly; the doctor will determine whether to adjust the regimen. Never stop the medication on your own.
