The correct use of Faropenem is the basis for ensuring efficacy. This guide focuses on the timing of medication, dosage rules, and remedies for missed doses to help you use this antibiotic in a standardized manner.

1、 Fasting or with meals?

Suggested to take on an empty stomach: Medication should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, as food can significantly reduce drug absorption and affect antibacterial efficacy.

Drinking water requirements: Take with sufficient warm water to ensure that the medication reaches the gastrointestinal tract smoothly.

Avoid pairing: During medication, it is not advisable to take it with milk, calcium/iron/zinc containing drinks or supplements, with a minimum interval of 2 hours.

2、 Standard dose and adjustment

Adult standard dosage: usually 150-300mg per dose, 3 times a day, with specific plans developed by doctors based on the type and severity of infection.

Patients with renal insufficiency: When creatinine clearance rate decreases, it is necessary to extend the dosing interval or reduce the single dose. Please strictly follow the doctor's advice to adjust.

Elderly people: There is no need to adjust according to age, but attention should be paid to changes in kidney function and observation should be strengthened.

3、 Principles for handling missed services

Approaching the next dose (<2 hours): Skip missed doses and take the next dose on time. Do not double the dosage.

Long time before the next medication (>2 hours): Take the medication immediately, postpone the next medication time, and maintain even intervals.

Daily frequency maintenance: Ensure that the total dose throughout the day does not exceed the prescribed limit. If unsure, consult a pharmacist or doctor.

4、 Precautions

Complete the entire treatment process, and even if the symptoms improve, do not stop taking the medication in advance.

If severe diarrhea, rash or allergic reaction occurs, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention should be sought.

This product is not used in combination with valproic acid. When used in combination, it can reduce the blood concentration of the latter and increase the risk of epileptic seizures.

The above is general guidance. Please refer to the doctor's advice for specific medication plans, and do not adjust the dosage or discontinue medication on your own.
