Catalin eye drops are sodium pyroxene preparations used to treat senile cataracts, which delay lens protein degeneration by inhibiting quinone substances. Its clinical effect is manifested as delaying the progression of turbidity rather than reversing the disease, and it needs to be continuously used for 3-6 months to take effect. The following is a detailed usage guide and precautions for this medication.

1. Drug efficacy

Clinical studies have shown that continuous use for 6 months can stabilize vision in 60% of patients, but individual differences are significant. The effect on mature cataracts is limited, mainly suitable for early-stage and immature lesions.

2. Standard usage and dosage

3-4 times a day, 1-2 drops each time. It is recommended to use it regularly at four time points: morning, lunch break, before dinner, and before bedtime. The interval between two doses of medication should not be less than 4 hours.

3. Correct administration method

Clean your hands before infusion, tilt your head back and open your lower eyelids to form a pouch. The dropper should be 1-2cm away from the eye to avoid contact with eyelashes. Close your eyes and press the lacrimal sac area for 1 minute after dripping to reduce absorption throughout the body.

4. Adjustment for special populations

Elderly patients do not need to reduce their dosage, but it is important to note that hand tremors may affect the accuracy of medication administration. The safety during pregnancy has not been established, and feeding should be suspended during lactation. There is no usage data for pediatric patients.

5. Adverse reaction management

About 5% of patients experience transient irritation, which usually subsides on its own within 5 minutes. Continuous congestion or rapid decline in vision require immediate discontinuation of medication and medical attention. Allergic reactions often manifest as eyelid edema.

6. Storage requirements

The original packaging should be stored in the dark below 25 ℃ and used up within 4 weeks after opening. It is recommended to use a medical cooling bag when carrying outside to avoid high temperatures causing drug decomposition and failure.

7. Taboos

It is contraindicated for individuals allergic to Pinoxicillin Sodium. Suspend use during acute conjunctivitis and corneal ulcer. Those who wear contact lenses need to remove them before administering the medication for 15 minutes.
