Ditripentat HeylAmp. is a chelating agent used to treat heavy metal poisoning, especially effective for poisoning caused by lead, cadmium, and other substances. The following is an explanation from three aspects: usage, dosage, and precautions.

Purpose

1. Mainly used for detoxification treatment of acute and chronic lead poisoning.

2. Suitable for adjuvant treatment of heavy metal poisoning such as cadmium and copper.

dose

1. Regular dose for adults: 1-2g per day, intravenous drip.

2. Children's dose: calculated based on body weight of 20-40mg/kg, administered in divided doses.

3. The treatment course usually lasts 5-7 days and needs to be adjusted according to blood lead levels.

Precautions

1. Renal function monitoring

During the treatment period, daily monitoring of urine volume, blood creatinine, and electrolyte levels is necessary, especially for elderly patients or those with pre-existing renal dysfunction. Patients with severe renal insufficiency (GFR<30mL/min) are prohibited from using it, and those with mild to moderate damage need to adjust the dosage.

2. Taboos for special populations

Pregnant women should only use caution when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women should not use it. Children should strictly calculate the dosage according to their body weight (20-40mg/kg), and patients under 18 years old should use it under the guidance of a professional physician.

3. Adverse reaction management

Pain at the injection site, brief dizziness, or nausea may occur, and usually do not require discontinuation of medication. If severe allergic reactions (such as rash, difficulty breathing) or persistent elevation of transaminase occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention should be sought.

4. Drug interactions

Do not mix with calcium containing solutions as it may reduce chelation efficiency. When combined with other heavy metal detoxifiers (such as dimercaptopropanol), an interval of at least 4 hours should be maintained to avoid competitive binding.

5. Treatment monitoring requirements

Regular monitoring of blood/urine lead levels is required to evaluate therapeutic efficacy, with a treatment course typically lasting 5-7 days. When the increase in urinary lead excretion is less than 50%, an adjustment plan should be considered, and hemoglobin should be monitored to prevent the aggravation of anemia.
