Usage of Avirumab (Bavencio)
The use of Bavencio involves preoperative pretreatment, standard infusion regimens, and adjustments for special populations, and must strictly follow indications and clinical norms. The following provides a detailed explanation from three aspects: medication process, dosage adjustment, and precautions.
1. Standard medication process
(1) Preoperative medication: Antihistamines and acetaminophen should be used for pre-treatment before the first 4 infusions, and whether to continue preoperative medication will be determined based on the infusion response.
(2) Infusion method: 800mg dose needs to be administered intravenously for 60 minutes, repeated every 2 weeks, using 20mg/mL clear solution.
2. Differences in indications and usage
(1) Single drug therapy: Merkel cell carcinoma and urothelial carcinoma are treated with simple intravenous infusion without the need for combination therapy with other drugs.
(2) Combination therapy: Renal cell carcinoma requires simultaneous oral administration of Axitinib 5mg twice daily, which can be taken with meals or on an empty stomach.
3 Special precautions
(1) Infusion monitoring: Observe allergic reactions throughout the entire process. If serious side effects occur, stop medication immediately and seek medical attention.
(2) Dosage preparation: Before use, check if the solution is clear and free of particles, and avoid shaking or dilution.
(3) Interval adjustment: If medication is delayed, the dosage should be replenished as soon as possible and the original cycle restored.
