Indications, usage and dosage of Naldemedine
Naldemedine is a specific medication used to treat opioid induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients. The standard dose is 0.2mg orally per day, which should be taken at a fixed time and not affected by food intake. Patients with liver dysfunction need to adjust the dose.
1. Indications
(1) Opioid induced constipation (OIC): suitable for adult patients receiving chronic opioid therapy, used to treat non cancer pain related OIC
(2) Special restriction: Not applicable to constipation caused by other reasons. Mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction must be ruled out before use
2. Usage and dosage
(1) Standard dose: Take 0.2mg orally once a day at a fixed time, with or without food
(2) Omission treatment: If missed, the dose should be skipped and the medication should be continued according to the original plan the next day. Doubling the dose is prohibited
(3) Special population: Moderate liver dysfunction patients need to reduce their dosage to 0.1mg/day, while severe liver dysfunction patients are prohibited from using it
3. Precautions
(1) Medication monitoring: It is necessary to regularly evaluate the improvement of constipation symptoms and potential adverse reactions such as abdominal pain
(2) Contraindications: Do not use in patients who are allergic to the ingredients of the medication, or in patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction
(3) Interaction: Combination with P-gp inhibitors may increase exposure to nadomeprazole and requires close monitoring
